Külmtöötlemisterased

Külmtöötlemisterased, also known as cold work steels, are a category of tool steels designed for applications involving significant pressure and friction at or near room temperature. They are characterized by their high hardness, excellent wear resistance, and good toughness. These properties are achieved through specific alloying elements and heat treatment processes, particularly cold working.

The primary alloying elements in külmtöötlemisterased typically include carbon, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. The carbon content contributes to the steel's hardness, while chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium enhance wear resistance and hardenability. These steels are generally classified into different series based on their composition and properties, such as high-carbon, high-chromium steels (e.g., D2), oil-hardening steels (e.g., O1), and shock-resisting steels (e.g., S7).

Külmtöötlemisterased are widely used in manufacturing for tools such as dies, punches, cutting tools, stamping dies, and molds. Their ability to maintain sharp edges and resist deformation under high stress makes them ideal for precision operations. The heat treatment process for these steels usually involves hardening followed by tempering. Hardening is typically done at high temperatures and quenched in oil or air, while tempering is performed at lower temperatures to achieve the desired balance of hardness and toughness.
