Középhullámot refers to the medium wave radio frequency band, typically ranging from 300 kHz to 3 MHz. This band is part of the radio spectrum used for broadcasting and other radio communication services. Medium wave signals are known for their ability to travel long distances, especially during the night, due to skywave propagation. This characteristic made it a popular choice for AM (Amplitude Modulation) radio broadcasting for many decades, allowing stations to reach audiences far beyond their immediate local area.

In the context of broadcasting, stations operating in the medium wave band transmit audio content modulated onto a carrier wave. The specific frequencies allocated for broadcasting vary by region, but common channels are spaced at 10 kHz intervals in many parts of the world.
