Käyttöönottotestaaminen, often translated as acceptance testing, is a critical phase in the software development lifecycle. It marks the final stage of testing before a system is deployed and handed over to the end-users or clients. The primary goal of acceptance testing is to verify that the system meets the specified business requirements and fulfills the user's needs. It ensures that the software is fit for purpose and ready for operational use.

There are typically two main types of acceptance testing: User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Business Acceptance Testing (BAT). UAT is performed by the actual end-users of the system in a realistic environment to confirm that it functions as expected from their perspective and can support their daily tasks. BAT, on the other hand, focuses on validating that the system aligns with the overarching business objectives and processes.

This type of testing is crucial because it provides the ultimate sign-off that the software is ready for production. It helps to identify any remaining defects or discrepancies that might not have been caught during earlier testing phases like unit or integration testing. Successful acceptance testing builds confidence in the system and reduces the risk of costly issues arising after deployment.
