Käivitusseadmed

Käivitusseadmed refer to devices used to initiate the operation of an engine or electrical system. In internal combustion engines, a common käivitusseade is the starter motor. This electric motor draws power from the battery and engages with the engine's flywheel, providing the initial torque necessary to crank the engine and start the combustion process. Once the engine is running under its own power, the starter motor disengages.

For electric motors, käivitusseadmed can take various forms. These might include direct-on-line starters, which apply full line voltage to the motor, or reduced voltage starters like star-delta starters or soft starters. These devices are designed to limit the initial inrush current when an electric motor starts, which can be significantly higher than its running current. Limiting this current protects the motor from damage, reduces stress on the power supply, and can prevent nuisance tripping of circuit breakers.

Other applications of käivitusseadmed can be found in industrial machinery, pumps, and compressors, where a controlled and reliable initiation of operation is crucial. The specific type of käivitusseade employed depends heavily on the size and type of the motor or engine, as well as the requirements of the application, such as the need for gradual acceleration or precise control over starting parameters.
