Kzlrmak

Kzlrmak is a small rural settlement located in the east–central part of Kazakhstan, within the administrative territory of the Kyzylorda Region. The locality is positioned approximately 15 kilometers south of the district capital, Kyzylorda, and lies along the lower reaches of the Syr Darya river valley. The Kzlrmak area is characterized by a steppe climate, with hot, arid summers and cold, dry winters, and the surrounding landscape is largely dominated by agricultural fields and patches of shrubland.

According to the most recent population data from the Kazakhstan Statistics Office, the village hosts roughly 650 residents, composed of a mix of ethnic Kazakhs and Russian nationals. Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Kzlrmak's economy has been largely agrarian, with many households engaged in livestock breeding, grain cultivation, and small- scale beekeeping. Local farmers also cultivate a variety of fruits and vegetables that are sold in regional markets. In addition, the community maintains a primary school, a modest health post, and a communal cultural centre that offers educational and cultural events.

The origins of the settlement can be traced back to the late 19th-century Russian expansion into the Alash region. Early settlers exploited the fertile black earth of the area for cultivating wheat and barley. The community's history includes episodes of collectivization during the Soviet period, followed by a gradual transition to private agricultural holdings in the 1990s. Kzlrmak is also home to a small shrine dedicated to a local folk hero remembered for his role in protecting the community from raiding nomadic tribes. The shrine continues to serve as a gathering place for annual festivals and traditional ceremonies.
