Kylmävarastointi, meaning cold storage in Finnish, refers to the practice of storing goods at low temperatures to preserve their quality and extend their shelf life. This method is crucial for a wide range of industries, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and logistics. The primary goal of cold storage is to slow down the biological and chemical processes that lead to spoilage and degradation of products.

There are several types of cold storage facilities, each tailored to specific needs. Refrigerated storage maintains temperatures typically between 0°C and 4°C, suitable for fresh produce, dairy, and certain medications.
