Kyabazinga

The Kyabazinga is the hereditary king of the Busoga Kingdom in Uganda. The title, meaning "leader of the people," is a traditional one with a long history, though the Busoga Kingdom as it exists today was re-established in 1993. The current Kyabazinga is His Majesty William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV.

The role of the Kyabazinga is largely ceremonial and cultural, serving to preserve and promote the traditions, customs, and heritage of the Basoga people. The king is a revered figure and a symbol of unity for the kingdom's subjects. He works alongside the Busoga Lukiiko (parliament) and the kingdom's cabinet to address issues affecting the Busoga region.

The succession to the throne is based on a rotational system among the royal clans of Busoga. The Kyabazinga plays a significant role in cultural events, community development initiatives, and advocating for the welfare of the Basoga people. The Busoga Kingdom is one of the several traditional kingdoms that were restored in Uganda, alongside Buganda, Bunyoro, Toro, and the Kingdom of Rwenzururu. The Kyabazinga's reign is a continuation of this rich cultural legacy.
