QLEDs offer advantages such as high color purity, wide color gamut, and low power consumption, making them suitable for display technologies. Quantum dot solar cells, on the other hand, can achieve high efficiency and low cost due to the tunable bandgap of quantum dots.

In addition to optoelectronics, quantum dots have potential applications in biological imaging, sensing, and medical diagnostics. Their small size and biocompatibility make them suitable for labeling and tracking biomolecules, as well as for detecting and quantifying analytes in various biological and environmental samples.

Despite their promising applications, the environmental and health impacts of quantum dots remain a concern. The release of heavy metal-based quantum dots into the environment can pose risks to ecosystems and human health. Therefore, it is essential to develop and implement appropriate regulations and safety measures to mitigate these potential risks.
