Kvantointiongelman, or the quantum measurement problem, is a fundamental issue in quantum mechanics concerning the process by which quantum systems transition from a superposition of states to a definite outcome upon measurement. This problem addresses the apparent discrepancy between the deterministic evolution of a quantum state, governed by the Schrödinger equation, and the probabilistic nature of measurement results.

In traditional quantum theory, a system can exist in multiple states simultaneously, described by a wavefunction. However, when a measurement is performed, the wavefunction appears to "collapse" to a single eigenstate, yielding a specific measurement result. The precise mechanism of this collapse, and whether it is a real physical process or an artifact of observation, remains unresolved.

The measurement problem has led to various interpretations of quantum mechanics. The Copenhagen interpretation posits wavefunction collapse as a fundamental process. In contrast, many-worlds interpretation suggests that all possible outcomes occur in branching universes, eliminating the need for collapse. Other approaches, such as objective collapse theories and hidden variable theories like Bohmian mechanics, attempt to provide a more detailed account of the measurement process.

Despite extensive debate and research, no consensus has been reached regarding the resolution of the quantum measurement problem. It underscores core questions about the nature of reality, the role of observers, and the completeness of quantum theory. The problem continues to be a central topic in foundational physics, inspiring both philosophical inquiry and experimental investigations aimed at understanding the quantum world more deeply.
