Kuracje is a Polish term referring to the systematic treatment or therapy of a disease or health condition. The word derives from the Latin cura, meaning care or cure, and entered the Polish language during the Middle Ages as part of the medical vocabulary borrowed from Latin and Greek through church and university texts. In historical Polish medicine, a kuracja could denote a prescribed regimen of dietary restrictions, herbal preparations, and physical measures such as rest or exercise, often administered over a set period. For example, a "kuracja na nadciśnienie" might include a low‑salt diet and gentle walks, while a "kuracja na przewlekło zwyrodniony kamień nerkowy" could incorporate mineral intake adjustments and specific medicinal rinses.

By the nineteenth century, the term expanded to encompass more formalized protocols used by physicians and midwives, especially in the context of homeopathy and early preventive medicine. Kuracje were typically recorded in patient charts, and some were even standardized into official guidelines issued by medical associations.
