Kuivajäähiukkaset

Kuivajäähiukkaset, also known as dry ice pellets, are small, solid pieces of carbon dioxide. They are produced by compressing and freezing gaseous carbon dioxide. Dry ice sublimates, meaning it transitions directly from a solid to a gas at atmospheric pressure and a temperature of -78.5 degrees Celsius (-109.3 degrees Fahrenheit). This sublimation process creates a visible fog of condensed water vapor from the surrounding air, which is often mistaken for smoke.

The primary applications of kuivajäähiukkaset stem from their extremely low temperature and their sublimation. They are widely used for cooling and preserving perishable goods during transport and storage, such as food, pharmaceuticals, and biological samples. In the entertainment industry, dry ice is employed to create fog effects for stage productions, concerts, and film sets. It also finds use in industrial cleaning processes, a technique known as dry ice blasting, where the pellets are propelled at high speeds to remove contaminants from surfaces without leaving behind any residue. Due to its cryogenic nature, safe handling procedures are essential when working with dry ice, including the use of protective gloves and adequate ventilation to prevent asphyxiation risks.
