Kuitti

Kuitti is a Finnish noun meaning a receipt or proof of payment. In ordinary commerce, a kuitti is the document that confirms a transaction has occurred and that payment has been made. It typically shows the seller’s information, the date of purchase, a description of goods or services, the total amount, and the method of payment; it may also include tax details and a transaction or reference number. A kuitti serves as evidence for returns, warranty claims, or expense reporting, and is commonly kept by consumers and businesses.

The word kuitti is derived from the Swedish kvitto, meaning receipt. The Finnish form has become standard in everyday language and in accounting practices.

In the digital era, many kuitit are issued electronically as e-kuitit.
