Kristálystruktúra refers to the highly ordered, repeating arrangement of atoms, ions, or molecules in a crystalline solid. This internal structure dictates many of the material's physical properties, such as its hardness, cleavage, melting point, and electrical conductivity. The specific arrangement is determined by the size and charge of the constituent particles and the forces between them.

In a crystal structure, particles are packed together in a three-dimensional lattice. This lattice is composed of repeating units called unit cells, which are the smallest building blocks that, when translated in three dimensions, generate the entire crystal. Common crystal systems include cubic, tetragonal, orthorhombic, monoclinic, triclinic, hexagonal, and trigonal. Within these systems, various crystal structures exist, such as face-centered cubic (FCC), body-centered cubic (BCC), and hexagonal close-packed (HCP).

The study of crystal structures, known as crystallography, is crucial in fields like materials science, solid-state physics, chemistry, and mineralogy. Techniques like X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction, and electron diffraction are used to determine these precise atomic arrangements.
