Kreditförsäljning refers to the sale of goods or services where payment is not received immediately but rather at a later date. This is a common practice in business and can take various forms, such as trade credit extended by a supplier to a customer or installment plans offered to consumers. The core principle is that the seller grants the buyer a period of time to pay for the purchase.

This arrangement benefits the buyer by allowing them to acquire goods or services without upfront capital, potentially improving cash flow or enabling larger purchases. For the seller, it can be a tool to increase sales volume, attract new customers, and build stronger relationships. However, kreditförsäljning also carries risks for the seller, primarily the risk of non-payment or late payment from the buyer. To mitigate this, sellers often conduct credit assessments, set credit limits, and may charge interest on overdue amounts or require collateral.

The terms of kreditförsäljning are typically outlined in a credit agreement or invoice, specifying the payment due date, any applicable interest rates, and consequences for default. In some cases, the seller might also sell these outstanding receivables to a third-party factoring company to obtain immediate cash. This practice is fundamental to many commercial transactions and plays a significant role in economic activity.
