Kosetters

Kosetters are a genus of marine invertebrates belonging to the phylum Cnidaria, specifically within the class Anthozoa. They are characterized by their solitary, sessile polyps which typically inhabit shallow coastal waters and coral reef environments. Kosetters are distinguished by their distinctive body structure, which often includes a cup-shaped or cylindrical calyx that supports a central mouth surrounded by tentacles.

These organisms play an important role in their ecosystems as filter feeders, capturing microscopic plankton and organic particles from the water column. Their tentacles are equipped with cnidocytes, specialized cells containing nematocysts that aid in prey capture and defense. Due to their ability to reproduce both sexually and asexually, kosetters can form dense populations and contribute to the biodiversity and structural complexity of their habitats.

Kosetters are also notable for their symbiotic relationships with other marine organisms, such as zooxanthellae algae, which reside within their tissues.
