Korrelaatiokoeffisientti, known in English as the correlation coefficient, is a statistical measure that quantifies the strength and direction of the relationship between two variables. The most common type of correlation coefficient is Pearson’s correlation coefficient, denoted as r. This measure ranges from -1 to +1, where +1 indicates a perfect positive linear relationship, -1 indicates a perfect negative linear relationship, and 0 signifies no linear relationship between the variables. A positive value implies that as one variable increases, the other tends to increase, whereas a negative value suggests an inverse relationship.
