Kormányalakítási

Kormányalakítási refers to the process of forming a new government in Hungary. This typically occurs after a parliamentary election when one political party or coalition secures a majority of seats in the National Assembly. The President of Hungary, following constitutional procedures, then tasks the leader of the party or coalition that has gained a majority with the formation of a new government.

The designated leader, usually the party's nominee for Prime Minister, then consults with potential ministers to assemble a cabinet. This involves selecting individuals to head various government ministries, such as the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Justice, among others. Once the proposed government is formed, it must present its program to the National Assembly and undergo a vote of confidence. If the proposed government receives a majority of votes, it is officially established and begins its term.

The process can sometimes involve negotiations and coalition-building if no single party achieves an outright majority. In such cases, parties may form alliances to jointly govern.
