Korkeajännitemeristeiden is a Finnish term that translates to "high-voltage insulators" in English. These are crucial components in electrical power transmission and distribution systems, designed to prevent the flow of current between conductive parts and the surrounding environment, typically grounded structures. Their primary function is to provide electrical isolation under various environmental conditions, including varying temperatures, humidity, and exposure to contaminants.

High-voltage insulators are made from materials that possess excellent dielectric strength and resistance to environmental degradation. Common materials include porcelain, glass, and various polymers. Porcelain insulators are known for their durability and long service life, often used in overhead power lines. Glass insulators, while more brittle, offer good transparency, allowing for easier inspection for damage.
