Korallrifid
Korallrifid, often called the rainforests of the sea, are underwater ecosystems built by colonies of tiny animals called coral polyps. These polyps secrete calcium carbonate to form hard skeletons, which accumulate over time to create the intricate structures of the reef. Coral reefs are found in warm, shallow, clear, and sunny waters, typically in tropical and subtropical oceans. They are incredibly diverse ecosystems, supporting an estimated 25% of all marine life despite covering less than 0.1% of the ocean floor. This biodiversity includes a vast array of fish, mollusks, echinoderms, sponges, and many other invertebrates.
The health of coral reefs is crucial for both marine ecosystems and human populations. Reefs provide essential
