Konvent is a term used in several European languages to denote either a religious house or an ecclesiastical assembly. In its religious sense it commonly refers to a convent, the community of nuns or monks living under a rule, or to the building that houses such a community. In its governance sense konvent can also denote a chapter or council within a monastery, cathedral, or religious order, i.e., a body of clergy with administrative duties.
