It represents the thermal resistance encountered by heat as it moves from the solid surface to the bulk of the fluid or vice versa.

The value of konvektionsmotstånd is inversely proportional to the convective heat transfer coefficient, commonly denoted by 'h'. A lower konvektionsmotstånd indicates a higher convective heat transfer coefficient, meaning the fluid is more efficient at transferring heat via convection. Conversely, a higher konvektionsmotstånd implies a lower convective heat transfer coefficient and less efficient heat transfer.

Several factors influence konvektionsmotstånd. These include the properties of the fluid, such as its viscosity, thermal conductivity, density, and specific heat. The flow characteristics of the fluid, such as whether the flow is laminar or turbulent, also play a significant role. Furthermore, the geometry and surface characteristics of the solid object with which the fluid is in contact can affect the convective resistance. For instance, rougher surfaces or intricate geometries might alter the flow patterns and consequently the heat transfer rate.
