Kompositmodeller, often translated as composite models, are a technique used in various fields, particularly in statistical modeling and machine learning, to combine predictions from multiple individual models to achieve a more robust and accurate overall prediction. Instead of relying on a single model, which might have its own strengths and weaknesses, a composite model leverages the collective intelligence of several models.

The core idea is that by averaging or weighting the outputs of diverse models, the errors or biases of any single model can be mitigated. This often leads to a reduction in variance and improved generalization performance, meaning the composite model is less likely to overfit the training data and performs better on unseen data. Different methods exist for combining models, including simple averaging, weighted averaging where models are assigned importance based on their performance, and more complex techniques like stacking, where another model is trained to learn how to best combine the predictions of the base models.

Composite models are employed in a wide range of applications, such as image recognition, natural language processing, financial forecasting, and medical diagnosis. The diversity of the individual models within the composite is crucial for its success; models that are built using different algorithms, trained on different subsets of data, or feature engineered in distinct ways tend to be more effective when combined. The development and implementation of composite models aim to harness the power of ensemble learning for enhanced predictive accuracy and reliability.
