Kolmefaasiliste

Kolmefaasiliste refers to a three-phase electrical system. This type of system is widely used in power generation, transmission, and distribution for its efficiency and ability to deliver a consistent flow of power. In a three-phase system, three alternating current (AC) voltages that are out of phase with each other are supplied. These voltages are typically sinusoidal and are offset by 120 degrees.

The primary advantage of a three-phase system over a single-phase system is its ability to deliver more power for the same amount of conductor material. This is due to the continuous power delivery; when one phase's voltage is at its peak, the others are at different points in their cycle, ensuring a more constant overall power flow. This characteristic makes three-phase power ideal for industrial applications and heavy machinery that require a substantial and stable power supply.

Three-phase power is generated by alternators with three sets of windings. It is then transmitted over long distances using high-voltage transmission lines. At the point of consumption, transformers are used to step down the voltage to levels suitable for various applications, from industrial motors to residential appliances (though most homes receive single-phase power derived from a three-phase distribution network). The three phases are often denoted by letters such as A, B, and C, or by colors in wiring diagrams.
