Kolloidpartikel

Kolloidpartikel refers to particles that are intermediate in size between macroscopic particles and molecular-sized particles. Typically, these particles have a diameter ranging from about 1 nanometer to 1 micrometer. When dispersed in a medium, such as a liquid or gas, these particles do not settle out quickly due to gravity, nor do they readily pass through most filters. This characteristic defines them as colloids.

The behavior of kolloidpartikel is governed by various forces, including van der Waals forces, electrostatic repulsion, and Brownian motion. Brownian motion, the random movement of particles caused by collisions with the molecules of the surrounding medium, is particularly important in keeping colloidal suspensions stable.
