Kolateralet is referring to collateral assets pledged to secure the fulfillment of an obligation, most commonly in lending. The concept is used in banks, microfinance, leasing, and other financed transactions. A kolateral can be tangible or intangible: real estate, vehicles, machinery, inventory, receivables, cash deposits, or financial instruments like bonds or shares, as well as certain intellectual property rights in some cases.
