Kohersivitet

Kohersivitet is a property that describes the degree to which waves or oscillations remain in phase with each other. In simpler terms, it refers to how predictable the phase of a wave is over time or space. High kohersivitet means the wave's phase is very regular and consistent, while low kohersivitet indicates that the phase fluctuates randomly.

This concept is crucial in several scientific fields. In optics, light sources with high kohersivitet, such as lasers, produce beams where the light waves are highly synchronized. This allows for phenomena like interference to be observed clearly and is fundamental to applications like holography and optical communications. Conversely, light from sources like incandescent bulbs has very low kohersivitet.

In quantum mechanics, kohersivitet is a measure of the ability of a quantum system to maintain its quantum state. Quantum superposition and entanglement, key phenomena in quantum computing and other quantum technologies, rely on a system's ability to maintain kohersivitet.
