Kodukataloog

Kodukataloog, also known as a home directory or user directory, is a fundamental concept in computing, particularly in Unix-like operating systems. It is a dedicated space on a computer's file system where a user's personal files, settings, and applications are stored. Each user on a system typically has their own kodukataloog, which is usually located within a directory called "home" or "users."

The kodukataloog serves several purposes. It provides a secure and organized space for users to store their data, separate from system files and other users' data. This separation enhances security and privacy. Additionally, it allows users to customize their environment, including desktop settings, application preferences, and personal files, without affecting the system or other users.

In Unix-like systems, the kodukataloog is usually named after the username and is located at /home/username. For example, if a user's username is "john," their kodukataloog would be /home/john. The kodukataloog contains several subdirectories, such as Documents, Downloads, Pictures, and Music, which help users organize their files.
