Koders

Koders was an online code search engine and directory for open-source software. Launched in the early 2000s, it aggregated publicly available source code from various repositories and made it searchable by language, library, license, and keywords. Users could browse results, view code snippets with syntax highlighting, and access licensing information and links to the original source repositories.

A key feature of Koders was its advanced search capabilities and licensing filters, enabling developers to discover code suited to particular licenses and reuse requirements. The platform also offered metrics such as popularity and updates to help users assess relevance.

Over time, Koders became part of larger code-hosting ecosystems through corporate acquisitions; it was acquired by SourceForge, and its code-search capabilities were integrated into SourceForge's offerings. After integration, the Koders standalone site was phased out as a separate service.
