Kniphofia
Kniphofia is a genus of perennial herbaceous flowering plants in the family Asphodelaceae. Commonly known as red hot pokers, torch lilies, or flame flowers, these plants are native to Africa, primarily South Africa. They are characterized by their striking, upright flower spikes, which often display a gradient of colors, typically starting with red or orange at the tip and fading to yellow or green towards the base. The leaves are long, strap-like, and typically form a basal clump.
The genus was named in honor of Johann Hieronymus Kniphof, a German botanist and physician. Kniphofias are
