Klyvfogar

Klyvfogar is a term used in a fictional cultural setting to denote a yearly ceremonial rite and the artifacts associated with it. In the in-world language, the syllables klyv and fogar are interpreted as "memory" and "fire," a pairing that gives the practice its name. The rite is described in contemporary fantasy literature, tabletop role-playing games, and related media as a communal event that binds past and present.

The ritual centers on a circular stone or wooden platform. Participants each craft or choose a small token, called klyvar, carved with personal memories or communal values. In a sequence led by a chorus, these klyvar tokens are raised and then either burned in a controlled fire or deposited into a ceremonial trench, symbolizing the release of the old year’s burdens and the illumination of memory through flame.

Historically, klyvfogar is said to have originated in the northern coastal villages of Norlin during a period of famine, later evolving into a festival of resilience.
