Kjølevæskenivået

Kjølevæskenivået refers to the amount of coolant present in a vehicle's cooling system. This system is crucial for maintaining the engine's optimal operating temperature, preventing it from overheating. The coolant, often a mixture of antifreeze and water, circulates through the engine, absorbing excess heat.

The coolant reservoir, typically a translucent plastic tank, is where the excess coolant is stored and from where it is drawn as needed. Checking the kjølevæskenivået is a routine maintenance task. The reservoir usually has markings indicating the minimum and maximum fill levels. The ideal level is typically between these two marks when the engine is cold.

If the kjølevæskenivået is too low, it can lead to insufficient cooling, potentially causing serious engine damage. Common reasons for low coolant levels include leaks in the cooling system, such as a faulty hose, radiator, or water pump. Evaporation over time can also contribute to a gradual decrease in coolant level.

Conversely, an overfilled reservoir is generally not a significant issue in the short term, but it can lead to coolant being expelled from the system as it expands when hot. If the kjølevæskenivået consistently drops, it is important to have the cooling system inspected by a qualified mechanic to identify and repair any leaks.
