Kivuun

Kivuun is an atoll located in the Ratak Chain of the Marshall Islands. It is situated to the northeast of the atoll of Ramarik and to the east of the atoll of Mekato. Kivuun is a small atoll, approximately 48 kilometers long and 1-2 kilometers wide.

Kivuun is a natural feature of the atoll landscape, with a shallow lagoon and a barrier reef surrounding the island. The atoll is composed of coral rock and sandy beaches, with a few permanent freshwater sources. The island has limited vegetation, with coconut, pandanus, and other tropical vegetation found in the atoll's interior.

Kivuun has a sparse population of Marshallese islanders who live in small homesteads and subsist mainly by fishing and coconut farming. There are no permanent buildings or infrastructure on the atoll, with residents largely living off the land and at sea.

Kivuun's remote location and lack of infrastructure make it difficult to access for visitors. The atoll can only be reached by boat, and there are no regular ferry services. Weather conditions and tides also make travel to and from the atoll challenging. Despite its inaccessibility, Kivuun is an important part of the maritime heritage of the Marshall Islands, providing a habitat for a diverse array of marine life. The atoll's limited human impact has also helped to preserve a natural environment that is characteristic of many Pacific island atolls.
