Kirjallisuustekstien

Kirjallisuustekstit are a type of text found in the corpus of ancient Finnish literature. The term "kirjallisuustekstit" is derived from Finnish, where "kirjallisuus" means literature and "tekstit" means texts.

These texts are typically fragments or remnants of Finnish-language works from the Iron Age and early Middle Ages. They were often written on birchbark or wooden tablets, which were perishable materials that would not have survived to the present day if it were not for the dry conditions of archaeological sites in what is now Finland.

Many of the kirjallisuustekstit found in archaeological excavations can be attributed to a specific cultural context that flourished in the region now occupied by southern Finland. These texts are often written in the Lihula alphabet, with the language used resembling the Old Finnish dialect.
