Kinetochors

Kinetochors are specialized protein structures located on the centromeres of chromosomes, playing a crucial role in cell division. They serve as attachment sites for spindle fibers, specifically microtubules, during mitosis and meiosis. The primary function of a kinetochor is to facilitate the accurate segregation of chromosomes by ensuring each daughter cell receives the correct number of chromosomes.
