Kimberleyprosessin
Kimberleyprosessin, known in English as the Kimberley Process, is an international initiative established in 2003 to prevent the flow of conflict diamonds, also known as blood diamonds, into the mainstream diamond market. The process aims to certify that rough diamonds are sourced from conflict-free areas and are not used to finance rebel movements or other illegal activities that threaten legitimate governments. Member countries must implement a national certification scheme, requiring that all rough diamond exports are accompanied by a government-validated certificate. This certification system is designed to be tamper-resistant and traceable.
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) involves importing and exporting countries, diamond manufacturers, and retailers. Participants
