Killustikkus

Killustikkus is a digital painting software developed by E Brick Graphics, a Soviet art studio that operated during the late 1980s. The program was first released in 1989 and quickly gained popularity among Soviet and Eastern European artists due to its unique feature set. Killustikkus allowed users to create a wide range of effects, from simple color management to elaborate textures and pattern generation.

The software's name, "Killustikkus", can be roughly translated to English as "color killerigor" or "color killerpat". This refers to the program's ability to manipulate color in innovative ways, allowing artists to push the boundaries of traditional color theory. One of the key features of Killustikkus was its ability to generate unique, hand- rendered textures and patterns through a process known as "Fractal Chaos".

Killustikkus was widely used among Soviet digital artists, who utilized the software to create a diverse array of works, from abstract art to surreal, dream-like landscapes. Although the software was only developed for MS-DOS, its appeal was not limited to the Soviet Union, and a dedicated community of enthusiasts and enthusiasts worldwide still uses and creates new content using the software.

After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, however, the software's development and distribution were severely disrupted. E Brick Graphics ceased operations, and many copies of Killustikkus were either lost or destroyed. Today, the software is extremely rare and operates on a virtual museum status, a testament to the innovative and unconventional work that once flourished under its early version.
