Kickscooters

The kickscooter, also known as a scooter or push scooter, is a human-powered personal transporter consisting of a steering handle, a deck on which the rider stands, and two or more wheels. Propulsion is achieved by the rider pushing off the ground with one foot. Kickscooters have been around in various forms for centuries, with early versions dating back to the late 1800s. Modern kickscooters, as we know them today, emerged in the early 2000s, with designs evolving to include foldable frames, adjustable handlebars, and improved braking systems.

There are several types of kickscooters. Traditional kickscooters are designed for recreational use, often by children, and are typically made of lightweight materials. Larger, more robust versions, sometimes called freestyle scooters, are built for performing tricks and stunts in skate parks or on street obstacles. Electric kickscooters, a more recent innovation, are equipped with a motor and battery, allowing for powered propulsion and significantly increasing their range and speed. These have gained popularity for urban commuting and last-mile transportation.

Kickscooters are used for a variety of purposes, including recreation, exercise, and short-distance travel. They offer a portable and environmentally friendly mode of transport, especially in urban environments. Regulations regarding their use, particularly electric kickscooters, vary widely by region, with some areas having specific rules about where they can be ridden and at what speed.
