Khorin

Khorin is a city in the highland region of Norastra on the fictional continent of Aurelion. It serves as the administrative center of Khorin Province and is a regional hub for governance, education, and commerce.

The name Khorin derives from the Khori language, with roots meaning valley or bright light; early manuscripts record variations of the spelling as Khorin and Khorinar.

Geographically, Khorin sits about 1,100 meters above sea level in a basin formed by the Khorin Mountains and drained by the Ivar River. The climate is temperate and mountainous, with cold winters and wet summers.

Khorin was founded in the 9th century as a trading post along caravan routes, grew as a regional market town in the medieval period, and modernized in the 19th and 20th centuries. It now blends administration with manufacturing and services.

As of the latest census, the city population is approximately 125,000. The majority speak Khori, with minorities from Varosian and Lurish communities. The economy emphasizes textiles and metalwork, agriculture, and professional services.
