Khanbogd
Khanbogd is a sum (district) of Ömnögovi Province in southern Mongolia. The sum's administrative center is located in the settlement of Khanbogd. Geographically, Khanbogd lies in the Gobi Desert region, known for its arid climate and unique desert landscapes. The area is sparsely populated, with a majority of the residents engaged in traditional pastoralism, raising livestock such as goats, sheep, and camels. It is also situated near the Tavan Tolgoi coal deposit, one of the world's largest, which has led to increased industrial activity and associated development in the region. The proximity to this significant resource has also brought both economic opportunities and environmental considerations for the local community and the wider province. Transportation within Khanbogd and to other parts of Ömnögovi primarily relies on unpaved roads. The sum's economy is a mix of traditional herding and emerging resource-based industries. Khanbogd plays a role in the regional economy of Ömnögovi Province, balancing its traditional way of life with modern industrial development.
