Kevean

Kevean is a fictional constitutional parliamentary republic in the southern part of the continent of Ardentia, bordered by the Sora Ocean to the south, the Darin Mountains to the north, and the River Selen forming part of its eastern boundary. The capital is Varin, with major urban centers including Lorsk and Neris. The country is known for its diverse climates, from temperate plains along the coast to highland conditions in the north.

The name Kevean derives from the old Kevean language word keva, meaning path or way, reflecting historic trade routes. The constitution recognizes Kevean as the official language, with Drinar and Fenari spoken in regional communities.

The modern state traces back to the Kevean Confederation formed in 1716 by five principalities; it adopted a constitutional framework in 1863 and established a parliamentary republic with a President as head of state and a Prime Minister as head of government. The unicameral legislature consists of 90 members elected by proportional representation.

Kevean has a mixed economy with strengths in agriculture (citrus, barley), fishing, light manufacturing, and tourism. Major exports include citrus, seafood, and timber products. The population is around 4.5 million, ethnically diverse, with urbanization around 40%. Education is compulsory through age 16, and the state provides universal health care. Cultural life emphasizes regional folk traditions, seaside cuisine, and crafts such as woodworking and pottery.
