During this stage, students progress through grades 7, 8, and 9 of the Finnish comprehensive school system.

The curriculum for keskikouluikäisillä is designed to build upon the foundational knowledge acquired in primary school. It covers a broad range of subjects including languages, mathematics, sciences, social studies, arts, and physical education. The educational approach often emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative learning.
