Kerchoveana
Kerchoveana is a genus of small freshwater crustaceans that belong to the order Syncarida within the class Branchiopoda. First described in 1987 by zoologist Dr. Elena Kerchov, the genus was named in honor of her contributions to limnology. The type species, Kerchoveana marina, was isolated from brackish marshes along the Baltic Sea coast where it exhibits a distinctive elongated thoracic shield and a pair of long, filamentous antennules.
