Keramiikkikuidut, often translated as ceramic fibers, are a group of fibrous materials composed primarily of aluminum silicates. They are known for their exceptional high-temperature resistance, low thermal conductivity, and excellent chemical stability. These properties make them highly valuable in various industrial applications where extreme conditions are encountered.

The manufacturing process for ceramic fibers typically involves melting high-purity raw materials like alumina and silica at very high temperatures, then spinning or blowing the molten material into fine fibers. The resulting fibers can be processed into a variety of forms, including blankets, boards, papers, textiles, and molded shapes. This versatility allows them to be used as insulation, refractory materials, and thermal barriers.

Key applications of ceramic fibers include lining furnaces and kilns in industries such as steel, aluminum, and glass production. They are also used in high-temperature gaskets and seals, as thermal insulation in aerospace and automotive components, and in fire protection systems. Due to their lightweight nature and ease of installation, they offer significant energy savings and improved process efficiency in many high-temperature environments.
