Keirsey

Keirsey is a personality typology system developed by David Keirsey. It is based on the temperament theory of Carl Jung and the work of Ernst Kretschmer. Keirsey's system categorizes individuals into one of four temperaments: Artisans, Guardians, Idealists, and Rationals. Each temperament is further divided into two Keirseyan "types" or "roles."

The Artisan temperament is characterized by a focus on action and improvisation. Artisans tend to be spontaneous, adaptable, and enjoy hands-on experiences. The Guardian temperament values order, duty, and tradition. They are often responsible, practical, and committed to established structures. Idealists are driven by meaning and purpose. They are typically empathetic, compassionate, and seek harmony in relationships. Rationals are focused on logic, competence, and problem-solving. They are often analytical, strategic, and value knowledge and skill.

Keirsey's temperament sorter is a questionnaire designed to help individuals identify their temperament. The system aims to provide insights into personality, communication styles, learning preferences, and potential career paths. It is a framework for understanding human behavior and fostering better interpersonal relationships. Unlike some other personality systems, Keirsey's approach emphasizes observable behaviors and practical applications rather than abstract psychological constructs.
