Kehityssykleiden refers to development cycles or development sprints, a core concept in agile software development methodologies. These cycles are typically time-boxed periods, often lasting one to four weeks, during which a specific set of work is completed and made ready for review. The primary goal of a kehityssykleiden is to deliver a potentially shippable increment of the product at the end of each cycle.

During a kehityssykleiden, a team of professionals, including developers, testers, and product owners, collaborate to plan, design, build, and test features. The process usually begins with a planning meeting where the team selects a subset of high-priority tasks from a backlog to be worked on during the cycle. Throughout the cycle, daily stand-up meetings are held to discuss progress, identify impediments, and synchronize efforts.

At the conclusion of the kehityssykleiden, a review meeting, often called a sprint review, takes place. Here, the team demonstrates the completed work to stakeholders and gathers feedback. This feedback is then incorporated into the product backlog for future cycles. Following the review, a retrospective meeting is held where the team reflects on the past cycle, discussing what went well, what could be improved, and how to implement those improvements in the next kehityssykleiden. This iterative and incremental approach allows for continuous improvement and adaptation to changing requirements.
