Kaupankäyntiparit
Kaupankäyntiparit, also known as trading pairs or currency pairs, represent the quotation of one currency against another. In the foreign exchange market, currencies are always traded in pairs. The first currency listed in a pair is called the base currency, and the second currency is called the quote currency. The value of the pair indicates how much of the quote currency is needed to purchase one unit of the base currency. For example, in the EUR/USD pair, the Euro is the base currency and the US Dollar is the quote currency. If the EUR/USD exchange rate is 1.10, it means that one Euro can be exchanged for 1.10 US Dollars.
