Katodisädeputkitekniikka

Katodisädeputkitekniikka, often shortened to CRT technology, refers to the method used in older television and computer monitor displays. This technology relies on a vacuum tube containing an electron gun and a phosphorescent screen. The electron gun emits a stream of electrons that are directed and accelerated towards the screen. Magnets or electric fields are used to steer this electron beam across the screen in a precise pattern, known as scanning. As the electrons strike the phosphorescent coating on the inside of the screen, they cause it to emit light, creating the image that is visible to the viewer.

The intensity of the electron beam is modulated to control the brightness of each point on the screen. For color displays, three electron beams are typically used, each corresponding to a primary color (red, green, and blue). The screen is coated with tiny dots or stripes of phosphors that glow in these respective colors when struck by electrons. By varying the intensity of each of the three beams, a wide range of colors can be produced. While CRT technology was once the dominant display technology, it has largely been replaced by newer technologies like LCD and OLED due to their advantages in terms of size, weight, power consumption, and image quality. However, CRT technology played a crucial role in the development of visual display systems and remains historically significant.
