Kashar

Kashar is a town located in the Ararati Mountains of Armenia, specifically in the Aragatsotn Province. The town is situated at an elevation of about 1,850 meters above sea level and has a population of around 3,300 people.

Kashar is a small, rural community that has a long history dating back to the 5th century. The town is home to many ancient architectural monuments, including a number of churches and other cultural institutions. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture, with many residents involved in farming and animal husbandry.

One of the main attractions in Kashar is the Kashar Church of St. Astvatsatsin, a remarkably preserved medieval church built in the 10th century. The church is an excellent example of Armenian medieval architecture and features intricate stone carvings and stunning stained glass windows.

The climate in Kashar is characterized by cold winters and mild summers. The town experiences significant snowfall during the winter months and temperatures can drop as low as -15°C in January, the coldest month. During the summer, temperatures typically range from 15°C to 25°C.

Kashar is a relatively remote town, with the nearest cities being Yeraskh and Spitak, located approximately 30 kilometers away. Despite its isolated location, the town has developed its own distinct culture and traditions, with a strong emphasis on preserving its historical and architectural heritage.
