Karburálás

Karburálás is a term referring to the process of carburation, which is the mechanical process of mixing air and fuel for combustion in an internal combustion engine. This process is primarily associated with older gasoline engines, as modern engines predominantly use fuel injection systems.

A carburetor's main function is to control the air-fuel ratio delivered to the engine cylinders. It works by creating a vacuum as the engine draws in air. This vacuum pulls fuel from a reservoir (the float bowl) through a jet. The air then mixes with the fuel, creating a combustible vapor that is drawn into the engine. The amount of air and fuel entering the engine is regulated by the throttle, which is controlled by the driver's accelerator pedal.

Different types of carburetors exist, each with its own design and operating principles, such as downdraft, updraft, and side-draft carburetors. The efficiency and performance of an engine can be significantly affected by the proper functioning and tuning of its carburetor. Issues like engine misfires, poor fuel economy, or stalling can often be traced back to a carburetor that is dirty, improperly adjusted, or worn out. While largely replaced by fuel injection, carburetors are still found in some small engines, classic cars, and certain racing applications.
