Kamppi

Kamppi is a district and neighborhood in central Helsinki, Finland. Located in the heart of the city, it serves as a major commercial and transportation hub, linking residential areas with business services and public transit. The area is dominated by the Kamppi Center, a large integrated complex that includes a shopping mall, office space, and a bus terminal, closely connected to the Kamppi metro station. Narinkkatori square sits at the center of the Kamppi Centre and functions as a public gathering space and landmark.

A notable feature of Kamppi is the Kamppi Chapel of Silence (Kampin kappeli), opened in 2012. This wood-clad, circular chapel operated by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland offers a quiet space for reflection and prayer and has become a recognizable element of the district.

The Kamppi area has undergone extensive redevelopment since the late 20th century, transforming former market and commercial sites into a modern mixed-use district. The development has positioned Kamppi as a focal point for urban activity, with a combination of retail, offices, and housing alongside major transport connections that link it to the rest of Helsinki and the surrounding region.
